Welcome to Southdown Village!
Southdown is one of the seven villages of Copperfield. Most of our 954 homes were built between 1980 and 1990.
We are a well-established neighborhood with mature trees, 2 parks, and a lap pool including a slide, diving board and covered pavilion.
With many owners choosing to upgrade their homes, we are a sought after neighborhood to live in.

A Message from our Crime Watch Representative
I’m asking you to consider becoming a block captain for your street. The duties are pretty simple and for the most part don’t take a lot of time:
1. Gather all the current contact information from everyone on your block, including children’s ages.
2. Plan a National Night Out celebration in October.
3. Be observant on your street. If you see someone backing a vehicle in your neighbor’s driveway and they are taking things from your neighbor’s home, call 911. If you see strange cars on your street, call 713-221-6000 #1.
Please let me, DeBra Delacroix Edwards, know if you are interested at ddedwards57@att.net. It’s really an easy job and very rewarding.
If you see a crime in progress, call 911 (for burglary or serious crimes) or the Sheriff’s Office 713-221-6000 #1 for any other complaints, including traffic issues. Please register your name at www.copperfield.org for updates on crime and community activities.

Board Minutes
Southdown Village participates in a recycling program. Our recycling day is Thursday morning.
As of May 1st, 2010, WCA Waste Corporation’s residential curbside recycling program has been expanded.
The following items will now be accepted in our recycling container: Newspaper, Magazines, Catalogs, Junk Mail and Envelopes, Office Paper, Construction Paper, Colored Paper, Folders, Paper Bags, Phone Books, Holiday Cards and Greeting Cards, Corrugated Cardboard Colored Paper, Folders, Paper Bags, Phone Books, Holiday Cards and Greeting Cards Boxes, Paperboard Boxes (cereal, soda/beer, egg, shoe boxes, etc.) Aluminum Cans, Tin Cans, Steel Cans, Glass Bottles, Glass Jars, Empty Aerosol Cans, Aluminum Foil, Plastics #1-#7 (milk, soda, water, juice, shampoo, detergent, pool supplies, pet food, etc., excluding Styrofoam), Metal Pots and Pans, Copper, Scrap Metal (nails and screws, gutters, etc.)
Unacceptable Recyclable Material: PLASTIC BAGS, Styrofoam, Pizza Boxes (because of the oils), Coat Hangers, Paint and Solvent Containers, Light Bulbs, Mirrors, Windows, Dishes and Cups, Pyrex Pans, Wet or Soiled Paper, Paper Towels, Facial and Toilet Tissue, Disposable Plates and Cups, Milk and Juice Cartons (wax-board containers), Wrapping Paper.
Trash Information-Our trash days are Monday and Thursday mornings. Southdown participates in back-door trash pick-up. However, yard clippings, tree branches, fencing, etc. must be brought to the curb and bagged or bundled weighing no more than 40 pounds, and being no longer than 4 feet in length. Please do not place your grass clippings at the curb before the night preceding pick-up. It changes the perception of our neighborhood and is a common complaint of your neighbors. If collection day falls on a holiday, items will be picked up the next trash/recycling day, not the following business day. For more info see:
