The new Ban On Roadside Selling Of Live Animals in Harris County, effective October 1, 2007, prohibits the selling of live animals and the erection, maintenance, or placement of a structure by a vendor of live animals if it occurs on a public highway or road, in the right-of-way of a public highway or road, or in a parking lot. Each offense under this new Ban is a Class C misdemeanor and carries up to a $500 fine for the first offense and a $1,000 fine for a separate offense occurring each day a violation continues.

Please call Harris County Public Health & Environmental Services (HCPHES) at (281) 999-3191 during their normal business hours Monday thru Saturday to report this Roadside Selling Of Live Animals. If you spot a Roadside Seller Of Live Animals on Saturday afternoon and/or on Sunday, you will need to leave your report on Monday by calling 281-999-3191. Your report must include the actual address or the closest intersection of the Roadside Selling Of Live Animals spotted activity. It is helpful, but not necessary, to give the following information in your report:

(a) the type/breed of animals being sold
(b) the type or structure being used to sell the animals
(c) the number of individuals selling the animals
(d) the vehicle license plate number of individual/individuals selling the animals
