MESSAGE FROM THE CY-FAIR VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT:

The Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department is requesting homeowner assistance in addressing the low hanging trees within the Copperfield community. These low hanging branches or limbs are hampering responses to calls for assistance. The branches and limbs are damaging equipment and Homeowner’s trees.  Routes to locations have to be altered. Some locations are unable to have an alternate route, leaving no recourse but to park the apparatus and walk to the location.

Several pieces of equipment are 13 feet tall and CFVFD is requesting that homeowners trim the trees to have a 14 feet umbrella over the street.  The Department members have been instructed not to damage their apparatus or the Homeowner’s trees by driving down streets that do not have appropriate passage.  The fire department does not wish to have a citizen with a fire or medical emergency that delays them receiving attention due to having to locate an alternate route or being forced to walk to the emergency location.

Mold, mildew, algae and moss, what can you do?

Copperfield Place home owners association has found that a good percentage of deed violations are from mold, mildew, algae and moss on homes. The association would like to provide you with the following information, so that we can decrease the number of violations.

Mold, mildew, algae and moss are an exterior surface problem on paint and other surfaces, caused by warm, humid conditions, poor air circulation and little direct sunlight. An effective way to remove mold, mildew, algae and moss is by scrubbing with a solution of household bleach and water. Mix 1 part bleach to 3 parts water, and remember to rinse the surface thoroughly with a garden hose after washing. (Power washing is recommended for larger areas). Always wear appropriate safety equipment (rubber gloves and eye protection) when using this solution, and protect your shrubbery and plants with plastic sheeting. If your going to paint, all mold, mildew, algae, and moss must be removed before painting or it will come through the new paint.

If you decided to paint after getting rid of all mildew, priming is essential for better adhesion, sheen uniformity, mildew control, and durability. Select a top quality exterior paint in the color and sheen that your home owners association permits. A semi-gloss paint is recommended. A semi-gloss paint has a higher sheen value meaning it provides a harder finish that proves more moisture resistant. Along with this, a semi-gloss finish is also very washable.

You can also purchase a product like, Anti-Growth® - A long-lasting fungicide designed to prevent and control the growth of mold, mildew, algae and moss on most surfaces. It can also be added to paints and stains
